when cliches come true

I really didn't think anyone ever actually said in real life, "Some of my best friends are ----" (black, Jewish, gay etc) to demonstrate why *they* can't be a bigot in real life.  As I discovered on lj today, when someone said that they couldn't have meant to be offensive as some of their best friends are trans, they really do.

Blimey.

Eh.  20six totally confuses me, especially with the new layout.  :S  Is there any way to search on interests, or for a blog title?  *flails*

The close-range victim of her sawed-off mouth

Sometimes life seems like a series of betrayals. (See me be Teh Emo....) Seriously, though: someone who I thought I could trust beyond death, someone who I love like a sister (better than a sister - I hardly know my half-sister), has done something really, really hurtful, and I'm just sitting here aching.

I didn't used to trust anyone, didn't let anyone in. I've learned to do that. And now...ah god, now.

I feel so sad right now.

All Change

So frickin' much has changed since I stopped posting here....  Breakups, new jobs, new studies, new dog, new dear friends, new hopes, all that.

Life seems infinitely more hopeful, except for the post that will follow this.

I'm gonna be a law student, I'm a witchcamp teacher, I know more of my parts.

God is self, and self is god, and god is a person like myself.

The fucking thing has decided I'm a bot and barred my isp address.  Emails are not getting responses.

Boom Today

For a sane, rational and *totally British* response to today's things-going-boom, please see this post on [info]jekesta's journal.

My first thought when I heard about the blasts was that it must be the IRA, despite it being ???seven??? years or so since the Good Friday Agreement and all. Hyde Park, Regents Park, Harrods bombing, Grand Hotel bombing, the Deal barracks bombing which was too close for comfort, the 1990 car bombings, the Warrington bomb attacks, Newtownards, that chippy in Belfast, Canary Wharf, Omagh, and no doubt a *great* many more that I haven't listed (we used to get bombs planted on the rail line I took to school) - not to mention ETA, who have been routinely killing considerable numbers of people for a considerable time (and making my former-Spanish-resident father rant).

Somehow I'm having difficulty feeling that this is any different. Sad, yes, horrified, yes. But somehow I can't get angry. Or suprised. It just seems like business as usual. And that is the really, really fucking depressing thing. Normal life in the modern world.

Damnit, I'm putting the kettle on.
